Rules-Info
1. Talents may include (but are not limited to) singing, dancing, instrumental music, skits, magic, comedy, martial arts, juggling. NO LIP-SYNCHING.
2. The South Towns Talent show is open to participants 12 y.o. and up as of March 11th 2017
3. At least 50% of the participants in each act must live within the boundaries of participating cities: Nibley, Providence, Millville, Hyrum, Paradise, Wellsville, Mendon, College Ward, Young Ward.
4. Maximum length of acts is 3 ½ min. Beginning with first sound or movement.
5. Maximum number of participants in an act is 15.
6. In all cases, decisions of judges are final and will not be open to discussion.
7. All recorded music must be on a CD (compact disc) that is clearly labeled with the performer's name and music title. Include only the music for the act with NO LONG SILENT LEADS.
8. Bands will need to provide their own equipment for auditions and shows.
9. Absolutely no profanity or insensitive subject matter will be permitted.
10. Costumes must be appropriate for all age groups. This is a “family” event.
11. Limit of 15 performance slots are available for the talent show.
12. Acts are responsible for their own props and costumes.
13. Acts with any members under 18 must have written consent from a parent or guardian.
14. If your act is not ready when called, you will be immediately disqualified.
15. Changing/Bathroom facilities are limited to what is available on site for both the audition and talent show.
16. The talent show act must be performed on stage.
17. Family and friends are encouraged to attend the Talent Show to ‘cheer’ for participants. A People’s Choice award will be selected by audience ballot.

The decisions of the judges are final and represent their personal opinions, and are not necessarily representative of the judgements and opinions of the event organizers.Participation in this event indicates approval to use any photo or video image taken during the event for promotional purposes. Event organizers are not responsible for lost, stolen or broken items. Lost and found items will not be mailed.
This community talent show is open to residents of Nibley, Providence, Millville, Hyrum, Paradise, Wellsville, Mendon, College Ward, and Young Ward. Contestants are judged on: Overall Performance, Audience Response, Showmanship, Style, Execution, and Originality.
Competition Categories:
Vocal, Instrumental, Dance, Dramatic/Comedic Interpretation, and other approved performances
Time Limits: 3 minutes and 30 seconds maximum for each number.
A deduction of 5 points will be taken for each 15 seconds over time limit.
Adjudication:
Judges' scores are based on:
- Originality (15 points)
- Style & Execution (20 points)
- Showmanship (30 Points)
- Audience Response (15 points)
- Overall Performance (20 points)
- A People’s Choice award will be selected by audience ballot
Acts selected to advance from the audition to the Talent Show will have the opportunity to receive up to 2 hours of personal coaching in preparation for the Talent Show. TheTalent show winners will perform in the NIbley Heritage Days Concert on June 17th 2017, and will be expected to attend associated concert rehearsals. All talent show contestants may have an opportunity to perform at other city days celbrations with participating cities.
Entry Fees, Forms, and Deadlines:
Fees:
- All acts $10 plus $5 for each additional participant (accompanist if applicable registers as participant).
- Ex: Solo act: $10
- Solo act with accompanist: $15
- Group of three $20
- Maximum total cost per act will not exceed $25.00 (5-15 participants)
Hard Copy Forms:
- Entry forms must be completed in full (front and back/pg. 1 & 2) and require full payment on or before the deadline
- One entry form per act please.
- Mail/deliver entries to:Nibley City Hall: 455 West 3200 South Nibley, Utah
- Returned checks will be charged a $25 fee.
Online Registration:
- Must be completed on or before the deadline a signature page must also be completed with signatures from each participant and presented at the audition check in.

Confirmations/Schedules:
The audition schedule will be e-mailed prior to the audition and talent show competition. Please review them carefully as changes/additions on the day(s) of the audition and talent show will be discouraged or impossible.
Audition Schedules:
Acts/participants will be scheduled for blocks of time. Please arrive 10 min before your scheduled audition time block is scheduled to check in.
Talent Show Schedule:
All talent show acts should be prepared to perform earlier than scheduled as may be requested by the backstage manager. Please report to the registration table a minimum of one hour prior to your first act for any additional information as may be necessary on the day of competition
Music and Sound Equipment:
- All recorded music must be on a CD (compact disc) that is clearly labeled with the performer's name and music title. Include only the music for the act with NO LONG SILENT LEADS. (Maximum length of acts is 3 ½ min). Talent show contestants must have in their possession an easily accessible backup CD prior to and during the show.
- Two handheld microphones with stands will be made available for talent show performers. Headset microphones are not available and use of personal sound equipment of any kind is prohibited.
- Music should be turned in to the registration table for both the audition and talent show where act number decals will be applied to music as it's received. Music should be retrieved from the sound table immediately following the performance. Event organizers are not responsible for lost, stolen, or unclaimed music. Unclaimed music will not be mailed.
Props:
- Only those props that can be carried on by the performer or performer's assistant and that do not require extensive set-up are allowed.
- Mats will be allowed if necessary but not provided. No fire, smoke, knives, throwing of glitter, etc. will be allowed.
- No live animals
Very Important:
- All routines, music, choreography and costumes must be suitable for family viewing. Event organizers reserve the right to deduct points, disallow or disqualify any act for any reason, including but not limited to acts or actions considered distasteful or vulgar.
- As a rule, special performance time requests are not accepted. Teachers/or parents are not permitted to coach students during performance.
- Performers may enter as many different competition categories as desired with different acts. In the unlikely event that it is necessary to cancel a competition all entry fees will be returned. Individual acts that cancel due to illness; injury or any other reason will not receive a refund.
